What is Jump Start?

Jump Start is a Summer Holiday intensive for students proceeding to year 10, 11 or 12 Maths B.  The focus of the program is to equip students with the essential skills to be able to successfully navigate their way through Maths B at school.
 

Aims/ Objectives of Jump Start:

There are two major aims of the program:

1. To equip students with the essential knowledge and procedures required to progress through Maths B
    

2. To help students gain confidence in applying these skills in mathematical modelling and problem solving.

Students will feel more confident about themselves and their potential to achieve their preferred results.

Numbers are capped (maximum 5 per group) ensuring students have individual attention.

Intensive holiday program (6 sessions lasting 2 hours per session). 

The program commences and completes during the Summer Vacation.

Having access to a tutor who is experienced as well as proven to help students improve their maths skills and thus their marks.

Students will gain a jump start on topics and essentials before the school year commences.

Who would benefit from this program?

Anyone undertaking year 10, 11 or 12 Maths B (or equivalent) would benefit from this program.  It will provide a better understanding for those lacking confidence or skills in the subject and will further enhance the abilities of those who are more proficient.  This has been proven multiple times each year.

How does the program work?

The program consists of six sessions (each session running for two hours), carried out over the Christmas/New Year School Holiday Break (there are groups that run through December and others that operate through January).  It’s designed for groups of between 1 and 5 students and is carried out in the tutor’s home.  There are separate groups for year 10 Maths B, year 11 Maths B and year 12 Maths B. 

About the Tutor…

In my experience of tutoring students for over 20 years, I have observed that there are several key topics that students must grasp if they are to successfully move through Maths B . 

When students do not possess sound skills in these topics they disengage since new topics are built on these key concepts.  Thus, they’re progress is greatly hindered.

Over the years, more than 70% of my students have gained a High Achievement or better.

What are the costs?

There is a Course Enrolment Fee and an hourly charge per session.  The Enrolment Fee must be paid in advance to secure a place.  Numbers are limited so places are on a first come, first served basis.  Enrolment Fees will not be refundable after Nov 30.  For details about course dates or any other questions, contact us
